What the men don't know can't hurt them
Who: Sara and Sofia Where: At home, then the restaurant…

Who: Sara and Sofia
Where: At home, then the restaurant
When: A night or two after the BBQ

Sara stood in front of the mirror, performing a final check. She and Sofia were going out to the Thai place she wanted to go, and although it wasn't fancy, she'd tried to make an effort for her. She'd put on a simple black dress and a pair of strappy heels that showed off her legs, done her hair and applied a little make up.

When she was ready she went in search of Sofia. "You ready?" she asked her, smiling.

"You do look after me," Sara promised Sofia with a smile. She knew she was onto her now. "I just like doing things for myself. You know I'm independent," she said. "The gesture was very sweet, though, and I did appreciate it."

"I know," She replied with a little grin. She waited for her to get out of the car, and held her hand out to her. "I'd kick your ass if you held doors open for me," She admitted with a little smirk. Though they both knew she didn't mean it, because she'd not hurt her. Simple figure of speech.

"I'm learning to be tolerant and see it for what it was- an effort to be nice," Sara smiled. "I don't want us to fight, you try really hard to make me happy and I think that's the important thing."

"I know," She smiled, leaning over to kiss her cheek gently.

"We've come a long way together. A few years ago and we'd have been shouting at each other," She replied. And they would. Sara would have gotten mad at her, Sofia would have become defensive.
4th-Feb-2009 09:04 pm (UTC)
"I've grown up a lot," Sara said, nodding. "I know I still come off as critical to you, and I honestly don't mean to. You make me so happy, Sof," she said as she finally got out of the car.
4th-Feb-2009 09:06 pm (UTC)
"You make me happy too," She smiled.

"I've grown up too. At least, I hope I have." She wasn't as quick to argue, anymore. She was far more understanding of Sara's feelings now, and took a lot more care with them.
4th-Feb-2009 09:09 pm (UTC)
"You definitely have," Sara replied, closing the door behind her. "It's okay to retain your playful side, though," she assured her. "I like that about you."
4th-Feb-2009 09:12 pm (UTC)
"I'm glad you do," She replied. "I know that gets a little lost sometimes, though." She admitted. There were times she was so absorbed with work, or with just being a responsible parent and wife that she ignored her own need to be playful.

"Everybody has slightly off days sometimes," Sara told Sofia. "I know that no matter what, I love you, and that's the main thing," she smiled. "I know I'm a complete pain in the ass at times, and you put up with me."
5th-Feb-2009 07:32 am (UTC)
She smiled at that. No point in arguing a true fact! "I love you too." She replied. At the restaurant doors, she was thankful they were already open - she didn't want to be creepy with keeping that up now!
5th-Feb-2009 01:14 pm (UTC)
Sara laughed. "You could have at least pretended I wasn't," she told Sofia, running her hand down her upper arm the following her into the restaurant.
5th-Feb-2009 06:52 pm (UTC)
She grinned wickedly at her.

"Maybe. But you're my pain in the ass sometimes," She replied playfully. "Just like I'm your egotistical asshole sometimes."
5th-Feb-2009 07:54 pm (UTC)
Sara glanced around and noticed there wasn't really anyone about where they were. She put her hand in front of her and grabbed Sofia's ass. "You're my sexy, egotistical asshole," she corrected her.
5th-Feb-2009 07:59 pm (UTC)
She grinned broadly at that, happily enjoying the feel of Sara grabbing her ass like that. She liked this. She liked that they could express, and embrace their flaws together now. They still pissed each other with them sometimes, but that was life.

"All yours," She added. She turned her head to wink at her, then, turned her attentions back to a waiter, walking over to them. She was good at flicking from flirty and playful to, well, the type of Sofia needed in a place like this. You don't grow up as Anne Curtis' daughter, and not pick up a few tricks on putting on a good show, or appearance.

They were shown to a table with a window view, out onto the gardens on the back, and even though she didn't pull her chair out for her, she waited till Sara had sat down, before she too sat.

"I know I've already said it countless times already, but you really do look fantastic. I love it when you show off your figure, and legs, like that."
5th-Feb-2009 08:05 pm (UTC)
When Sofia turned polite again so did Sara, smiling politely and removing her hand from her wife's incredibly gorgeous rear. She thanked the waiter and looked across the table at Sofia when he was gone.

"Thank you, baby," Sara replied, smiling. "I should try to dress up nicely for you more often."
5th-Feb-2009 08:07 pm (UTC)
"You always look gorgeous to me, you know. Even when... when Aiden's run us both ragged and we're this close," She gesturing with her thumb and forefinger, "To collapsing from exhaustion. You're unbeatable, baby," She smiled brightly at her.

"But this, these nights out, we'll do more. I'll dress more like this, and you'll get a chance to dress up too." She added warmly.
5th-Feb-2009 08:13 pm (UTC)
"You're a charmer," Sara smiled at Sofia. "Don't worry, you're definitely getting some later on," she assured her playfully, resting a hand on Sofia's knee and rubbing it gently.

"I just can't get over how amazing you look. If nothing else you look so much more relaxed. Do you feel good?" she asked her.
5th-Feb-2009 08:20 pm (UTC)
She laughed quietly and smiled broadly over at her. "A charmer, maybe, but I'm also telling you nothing but the truth there, baby." And she was. Sara always was like a magnet to her - no matter how she looked, or acted, Sofia was attracted to her.

She smiled and nodded. "I do. I'd like to wear things like this more often. But, I've never found it easy to fully switch off the work Sofia mode. I was very influenced by my mother with that whilst growing up. Even when I don't realise I'm doing it, I am. I go for button up shirts and smart trousers when I'm on my day off, just out of habit, sometimes. But when I wear things like this? It's like... escaping, that pressure, and that 'role'. I can embrace more of me." She blushed and shook her head at herself, resting her face in her hands as she let out a little laugh. "I sound like such a cliche, rattling on like that."
5th-Feb-2009 08:35 pm (UTC)
Sara shook her head. "No, you don't," she assured Sofia. "I can't imagine the sort of pressure you must feel sometimes, always trying to live up to people's expectations and present yourself the way they want you to. You do a great job, though, of handling it all. I'd like to see you more relaxed, though. You'll kill yourself if you don't learn to switch Captain Curtis off, and that would kill me, too. Then Aiden would end up living with apes... or worse still, with Greg," she told her playfully. They both knew that Greg was fun, and smart, and nice, but terrible when it came to doing anything even remotely domestic.
5th-Feb-2009 08:38 pm (UTC)
She laughed quietly at that and playfully shuddered.

"Well, we can't inflict that on our poor little boy." She replied. She let out a breath though, and licked her lips as she nodded her head.

"I'm trying to get used to turning it off. It's hard though, when it's the habit of a lifetime. I was brought up to be good at doing it."
5th-Feb-2009 08:42 pm (UTC)
"Maybe we should try to find ourselves a little holiday place," she suggested. "Out in the woods, really remote... they'll be pretty cheap there, and we can escape for weekends whenever we want to... No cell phone reception. Wouldn't that be amazing?" she asked.
5th-Feb-2009 08:43 pm (UTC)
"It would," She smiled widely. "But, wouldn't you go a little crazy not being able to have Dad update us so much on what Aid's up to?" Sofia would miss him, but manage better than Sara.
5th-Feb-2009 08:44 pm (UTC)
Sara's jaw dropped. "I wouldn't leave him!" she told Sofia. "I'd take him with us!"
5th-Feb-2009 08:45 pm (UTC)
"Oh..." She replied, grimacing a little. "Sorry, got my wires crossed there, huh?" She asked with a small smile.
5th-Feb-2009 08:46 pm (UTC)
"Baby, I feel guilty leaving him for a few hours to come out to dinner. I only agree to it because I know that in the long run it's a lot better for him to have to happy, relaxed, and very much in love parents."
